Why I Moved to the Country: Reason #31

 I have a clothes line!

Our backyard in the city was a place where the sun didn't shine. It was a cool retreat from the city heat, but gardens and clotheslines were out of the question.

Now we have a long line that stretches out to the workshop, a seemingly endless supply of wind and I relish my use of free solar power.

For me, this is country living.

My clothes line was not a well thought out process. Under cedar trees, and a wild cherry tree that the birds loved. The trees grew, the line did not. Long story short it was taken down.

I have borrored my neighbors clothsline when I wash my quilts. (I have to drive to my neighbors!)

Maybe next time I will borrow yours!

I am GREEN with envy!! The GroundsKeeper has been promising me a clothesline for about 4 years now...this spring we have agreed on a location and style of line...I am hopeful. I can't wait to see how yours is set up - it looks quite high, do you have a stoop? Does everyone know what a "stoop" is?

I don't have a pretty clothesline like you do, but I do have one of those spiderweb looking things in the yard. I love drying clothes outside but right now with all of the pollen in the air I'm still drying them on the rack inside. Hopefully all the pollen will be gone soon and I'll be able to hang laundry outside again.

My word that's some pretty clothes line you got yourself there! I do love the scent of breeze dried linen, dont you? Nothing like it!
Hope you are well, love Julia x

I loooove me a clothesline! The sheets smell so good.
But, more than saving energy, and the sweet smell of the clothes, I think my fave thing about a clothesline is the visual it presents! Reminds me of being at my Nana's when I was little and got to help hang out the laundry.
Good memories...

p.s. remember the anonymous person who calls themselve, "Mom?"
she is baaaaaack!

I've been dreaming of a clothesline for MONTHS! Can you believe that where I live you can have horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, bees, WHATEVER... but the CC & R's restrict us from having a clothes line! Go figure!

When I move, I want 1) my own well; 2) a root cellar; and 3) a clothes line!

I love hanging my clothes on a line outside, especially the sheets. Once I move out of apartment living and back into a home (hopefully farmhouse), I'll have a looooong clothesline like yours.

I can not imagine not having a clothes line or not being allowed to have one. Yes I love my line also! Odd how laundry can make a really pretty picture!!

There is absolutely nothing like fresh laundry off the line! I remember as a little girl, loving to help Mom pull the laundry in...too fun! :)

I found your blog through Tales from the Coop Keeper...and am thoroughly enjoying reading through it all.

Thanks for sharing some of your life!
