Welcome December!
A time for pulling out all the Christmas decorations, pouring through Christmas recipe books, dreaming of sugarplums and waiting, anxiously, for the pond to freeze.
As the decorations are unwrapped and set out, quilted wall hangings and a cross stitched advent calendar replace, temporarily, the Artist's work around the house. One special piece, however, comes out of hiding to makes its annual appearance, capturing Christmas at the old farmhouse splendidly.
The Soldier, steadfast as any I've ever seen, ready to be called into action at a moment's notice.
This piece is pen and ink and every year I put my nose right up to the glass and stare in awe at all those tiny little dots. My husband had the patience to sit and make this. This is proof, my friends, that the old saying is true, opposites do attract.
~Happy December Friends!~
**addendum**
Some of you have asked how long it took him to complete this work; he worked on it each evening over the course of several months; he estimates around 150 hours. For those of you not familiar with pen and ink, the entire image is made of tiny dots. The picture is a fair size, measuring 12 by 20 inches.

Wow ~ beautiful! And I agree, opposites do attract!
That is absolutely AMAZING! It is beautiful... I can't believe it's made with dots! The detail, right down to the toy soldier's expression and the smoke coming out of the chimney in the distance, WOW.
My husband and I are also very much opposites... and we've been together for 29 years and married for 26 at the end of the month :) And yes, we were high school sweethearts.
Enjoy all of you beautiful holiday surroundings, natural and man made.

Wow, what patience! I'm a watercolor girl myself. Much faster! Happy December!
How incredible is this? My goodness, the patience it must take! I am totally stunned!
And, you my dear, have this beautiful piece hanging in your home for Christmas. You got the artwork and the Artist!

Oh, my... the talent that man has! It draws you right in. You should definitely write a story to go with it because the picture just makes you want more!! (That's a good thing!).
Enjoy your Christmas preparations!
That is absolutely incredible. I can't imagine having that talent... or that patience.
Wow, that picture is amazing! He actually made that with little tiny dots? Not being 'artsy' whatsoever, I don't really understand that 'art form'. Exactly how long did it take to create that picture????? Patience is a virtue! Happy December!
That is unbelievable, all tiny dots! WOW, he is very talented and very patient.
It is wonderful! You are so lucky to have such a talented, creative hubby.
The picture is absolutely amazing! I'm in awe of talent like your artist has. You are blessed to have that in your home...and to have your artist too!

Holy Smokes! That is fabulous!
Looking at the pic makes me want to curl up next to the fire with a cup of coco.
That is completely lovely, really, it exudes an atmosphere that captures this time of year perfectly. Your husband is a very talented man, and you are very kind to share this with us all.
