Thrifty Thursday

Christmas is over, and many of us are anxious to put our decorations away for another year.

But wait!
Before you throw out those Christmas cards that traveled miles to your mailbox,
take a look at what my Stalker taught me to do with them, many moons ago.
A card front like this, can trimmed up in a matter of minutes,
and turned into a lovely gift tag.
I can't tell you how many times I've been asked, over the years, where I purchase my gift tags.

"Why, I make them", I always reply, while the questioner looks at me a little dumbfounded.
Then I explain and watch as the light bulb comes on.

Such fun!

The possibilities are endless,

with tags for girls
and tags for boys.

I've been recycling cards for so long, that when I visit a friend or relative over the holidays, I can usually be found sizing up their Christmas cards, deciding how I would slice and dice them into works of gift tag art.

So, please keep those cards, cut them up now and they'll be ready for next year.
And if you please, don't copy the Artist's gift tag style.
It's unique and one of a kind.

And it should stay that way.

(That's a gift I'm holding, not a tag!)

 ~Be well~

I like to recycle birthday cards too. I cut up the cards and glue a mix of different designs and patterns to a folded 1/2 sheet of paper. Everyone loves the "new" card they get for their birthday, and I save money while getting to express my creative side.

I wonder how many tags then I have thrown away over the years. But WAIT, I now have a head start because I didn't throw out last years yet!
Happy New Year!

I've done this as well -- I save all of my old cards. I'm such a hoarder.

I've even framed some of my favorite ones. Thanks for sharing this great idea. :)

Me too! I do the same thing. Of course, the cards I receive in the mail are less and less each year but I still send out my cards, first week of December, 'cause it's so much fun receiving them in the mail.

I hope all works out for your grandparents. It's such a horrible, stressful time of year to be ill. Your Mom & Aunt will be in my prayers ~ I can only imagine their stress levels!

What an excellent idea, Andrea! Tell the Artist he's not only talented, but very wise, frugal, and "green"!

I use scalloped edged scissors to cut mine out...I have enough to keep me going for years, not because I get lots of cards but because I too am a hoarder, sad but true!
Happy New Year!
