Calling Card

The glow from a strand of red peeking through a bevy of green leaves,
autumn's calling card, a subtle reminder that she'll be here to stay very soon,
ready or not.

And if a less subtle reminder is needed, all I need to do is gaze out my window
upon the four cords of wood piled outside, waiting to be stacked in the woodshed.

I think I like the more subtle reminder better.

~Be well friends!~

I, for one, am ready for fall...it's been a long, hot summer. It was 99 degrees Saturday, then 68 degrees today...I think Mother Nature is playing tricks on us! Now about that wood pile...just close the window curtains!

I do love Autumn and all the beautiful leafy colours.
Sounds like you have enough wood ready for stacking to last through Winter. Although, truthfully, I wouldn't have a clue as to how much a "cord" is...but it sounds like a lot!

Beautiful photo and lovely quote! I will have to enjoy all the pretty fall colors with everyone's pictures. We have a bit of leaf changing, but not like in areas north of here.

50 degrees this morning makes me know fall is near!
And sleeping with the windows open with another quilt is even better!
Have a great week.

Ready or not? I'm going to go with the not, I can't believe it is getting to autumn already! but it is a gorgeous photo!

For me it's ripening tomatoes that must be put in bottles. I love it in the winter so I'll deal with it now.

I usually love fall, but our summer was so slow coming this year, I'm not quite ready to give it up yet.

Bring it on! Fall is my favorite season.... don't envy your wood stacking task, though! Lovely texture work, too.

J keeps telling me not to hurry Fall! He isn't finished chopping and stacking wood yet.
But, secretly I keep telling it to hurry :)

Not ready for autumn, not yet anyway. I like the thought you added with your photo. :)

I love the yummy colors of fall and your photo has some of them. The burnt edges of red and orange and sometimes on the green leaves too. Warm and rich visually with the new brisk temperatures in the air, I call it, YUM!

It was 43 degrees when I went off to my class this morning. Kinda crispy but it is seventy now, still blue skies and no humidity.

This is the best ever weather and predicted for the week.

I so love that line about every leaf being a flower...and I always love sumac leaves in the fall.
