Delicate

After raining all night, there's not a lick of snow left on the ground this morning. I have a feeling this is going to be a memorable winter, for all the wrong reasons.

As  I completed a yard inspection on a much colder day, a mere two days ago, I gazed upon the lilac bushes with my brain agape in awe and wonderment.

How, I asked, how do these tiny little buds survive the harshest of temperatures only to release a beauty beyond words a few months later?

Sort of pushes one to redefine the word delicate, don't you think?

I have a lilac bush and plant to put in a second one. I love following them from budding all the way through their beautiful blossoms. I have so many photos similar to this one because I just love to watch them develop.

Nice texture!

I am with you . . . this will be a memorable winter . . . not for reasons we had hoped for. Our snow is almost gone as well, lwhat with the recent warm temps/rain.

Weird happening here in the past few days . . . We were enjoying these majestically beautiful snowfalls of 6, 5, 4 inches at a time.
This Saturday evening, in approximately five hours of time we received 14-15 inches of snow . . . the weirdness is, the "we" is just a few houses/blocks from me . . .
AMAZING . . .
The skies opened, let go of some white
moved on down the street and held on tight . . .

(really didn't plan on the rhyme . . . smiling)

Couldn't agree with your thoughts more- getting to witness winters of the more harsher variety through blogs such as yours of late, I think of that often.

What a beautiful shot!!
I am often in awe of how plants survive extremes too. We don't have snow in our sub-tropical climate but we have floods & fires and still nature & beauty survives.

Your photo is really lovely. It's delicate and strong...all at the same time. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

How they survive is indeed a mystery, and truly somewhat of a miracle I think. This is a really beautiful image Andrea, and I thank you so much for sharing it with us this week at The Creative Exchange.

Have a wonderful day!

So pretty. Saw things that reminded me of this feeling, but without camera at hand.I'm sure my attempt wouldn't compare! I love the contrast you can find in nature. And, seriously, that light!
