Christmas Simplicity: Centerpiece

Let's face it, Christmas can be a busy time of year, full of planning, decorating, cooking and socializing. On top of all that, I also have my hands full with fiscal year end where I work, so while the push is on to meet our financial targets, I'm left feeling a little stretched. I've managed to find a comfortable balance, realizing what I can and can't do this time of year, but I'm always looking for ways to simplify with satisfactory results, both professionally and here at the old farmhouse.

Take this vintage lamp shade I found thrifting last year while we were doing a small renovation in the kitchen. We didn't end up using it, but I'm hanging on to it for now until the farmhouse renovations are complete. (Note to the Male Twin: That's an example of an oxymoron. Mom)

It's a great piece, but I think it may end up being just a little too 'modern' for the old farmhouse yet it does serve another useful purpose! I gathered a little extra greenery while I was decorating our window boxes and urns and saved it for an arrangement using this vintage shade as a vase.

Voila! A simple, and quick arrangement that now
graces our dining room table for the Christmas season.
