Changes

With one day remaining of grade five for the twins, we're hours away from singing 'School's out for Summer'!

The male twin and I reminisced tonight about how, way back in September, I predicted this was going to be a very good year for him and it seems Mom was right. Isn't Mom always right? A little maturity and a teacher who is passionate about kids and his career also proved to be pivotal to success and a soaring boost to someone's confidence this year.
 The male twin and Monsieur.

As part of the french school structure in our area, the male twin will be starting middle school next year at a different school. His soon to be old school, sent the grade five students off with a formal adieu last week. I'm fairly certain that it hasn't been five years since I escorted him to his first desk in his grade one classroom. Nor has it been that long since I sloppily wiped the tears from my eyes as I walked back to my car. It's not that I don't like this young man that I'm just beginning to know, on the contrary but I find myself nostalgic for the little boy I'll never know again.
Then again, when I tried to fix his hair during the post assembly photo ops I was dissed. Big time. I caught a glimpse of the road ahead. It may be a little bumpy, but I'm hoping if we learn the rules of the road, we'll reach our destination together. Thank goodness for seat belts and air bags.
His principal gave a speech to the future sixth graders that, at the time, had me thinking could just as easily be applied to blogging. She spoke to them about how the world is ever changing, the world will change with them in it and that they have the ability to change the world. Let me just say that blogging has changed my world, blogs have changed my view of the world, and this future sixth grader changes my world by the minute.

But about that hair...

 ~Be well friends~

Hi Andrea - Congratulations to your boy twin! I have to say that blogging has also changed my perception of the world. I find most or all of the blogs I follow are written by women, and they involve animals or farm-life. But I also know that those are the types of blogs I seek out. The women are incredibly talented, have a great sense of humor, and adore their critters, and their country life. I feel fortunate to know each and every one of them, including you, Miss Andrea. And I do have a thrifty treasure to share with you all, later on today. It's not technically a find since I got it from my Grandma's home, but it is very old. So I will post of photo and a link on your blog about it later on today. Take care, from KY.

Congratulations to your "little" boy. They grow up way too fast, don't they? My oldest child is also going into grade 6 this year (although she is homeschooled) and I'm just flabbergasted that it's been almost 12 years since I brought that tiny 5 lb bundle home from the hospital!

It's all very bittersweet watching them grow up. But, I reminded my husband when our oldest graduated this year that the only thing harder would be if they DIDN'T grow up.

Enjoy the ride!

Oh I see my future here!! You are handling it with such grace Andrea. I can't imagine what it feels like to have to let go a little bit more each day. I'm certainly white-knuckling my kids so far. That last photo is soooo sweet & funny! I love it!

Congrats to the male twin and his exciting year ahead. A sweet post!
Our youngest son finishes grade 5 tomorrow too, and our oldest finishes grade 7. I know what you mean! Having one two years older sometimes makes it all seem to go so much faster. I can see him two years before, at his brothers current age, and really see the time fly. Just last night I peeked in on them in the night, and it is shocking to see how much they have grown, their little boy feet have turned into size 7's and 10's, men's feet really. The oldest has been taller than me for over a year, and our youngest checks daily to 'see if I'm taller yet".

I enjoyed reading this post. I can't believe how the years are flying by for my kids and the oldest is just finishing up "second grade" in our homeschool. I agree that blogging is changing the world. I learn so much from others and blogging also gives me a chance to feel like I have a voice of my own.
