Thrifty Thursday Link Up

Do you treasure vintage items, do you like to up-cycle, are you trying to leave a softer foot print on the planet by reusing items or are you doing your best to live a more thriftful life?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions then, my friend, you've come to the right place.

I've created this Thrifty Thursday link to share suggestions, ideas, creations and thrifty finds because we all want to do our best in leaving the world a better place than when we entered it.

So, don't be shy, show us what you've got, what you've done with it or what you might do with it. The choices are endless. And remember, it can be something old or new, found yesterday or twenty years ago. A thrift find is a thrift find no matter how or when you found it.

And remember, everything old is new again.

Here's my find for the week:

This little chair caught my eye through the thrift store window but the price was a little more than I wanted to part with. I walked around the store but I kept looking back towards the front to see if the chair was still there. I finally convinced myself that a little shabby chic chair wasn't going to come along every day and it would look just dandy with a few books resting on the seat. I laughed all the way home, there was a sticker next to the price tag that said "as is"; 'as is I ain't ever gonna replicate this kind of shabbiness on my own!"

Then I brought it home and my daughter, whose bedroom is yet to be renovated, said I could use it for books if I wanted but once her room was painted in her favourite shade of robins egg blue, it was hers. I couldn't agree more, it will look perfect in a young girl's country bedroom.

I don't go thrifting that much, so don't have anything to share yet - but I can see why you couldn't pass up the little chair - and what a nice book-rest it makes! And it is the perfect color for your daughter's country bedroom. What a great find you have there. Take care, from KY.

Andrea, what a great find, love the country color. I am new to thrifting, but not antiquing. I have learned the hard way, if you spy something that "speaks" to you, grab it and hold it tight, if you put it down or think about returning for the item, it's been "snatched up" or GONE!

Hi Andrea,I will join you next week for Thrifty Thursday...on my running I do about six to seven miles a day ..5-6 times a week...it is the ONLY thing that works for me. If you are physically able (knees) I really encourage you to start..it works...take it slow but steady...just start with a mile...walk and run until you can jog the whole thing..then add 1 miles every two to three weeks...on the road is best...but treadmill works too but you have to do more as the treadmill is actually doing 1/3 of the work for you because of the motor...12 years ago I ran a marathon..I am now 57 years old...I think I have one more left in me...maybe dec...join me...fly into Phoenix and we will do Tuscon marathon together...It's possible...e-mail me if you want...molliedog1@msn.com

What a fun idea for a weekly post, and what a sweet chair! Just like my old pie safe, it sounds like it was "meant to be." Now's the best time for finding those bargains...barn sales and auctions are at their peak. I look forward to seeing the ideas your readers have to share.

Thats a great idea Andrea! I look forward to reading more suggestions. I am loving the chair. I have an interest in old chairs... I have two mismatched ones sitting out in the flower garden with flower pots on them. I really should bring them in as they are cute out there but the nasty climate has their days numbered.
