Sweet Land

Pussy Willows
Author Unknown
There are willow pussies
Clad in furry goods,
And a robin singing
In the maple woods.
There's a springing crocus,
And a budding larch,
Who'd ever think the Springtime
Came along in March.
 ~~~~~~~
Apparently Mr Author Unknown hasn't ventured to my neck of the woods in April. This April.
This week's challenge is to use Kim's Silence and Sweet treat textures.
I had fun putting both textures to use, as I sat by the fire tonight, again. And this continual harsh weather reminds of the harsh life witnessed in the movie, Sweet Land. It's the story of a mail order bride who struggles with being German in post WW1 America. A sweet and tender love story and a glimpse into what it meant to be a farm wife at the turn of the last century. And that, my friends, is a good way to keep the woes of our modern farm lives in perspective.
Andrea, I have yet to find pussy willows... typically my first sign of spring here at Dog Trot Farm. Tomorrow we are in for a wintery mix, whatever that means....but I do know it does not sound good! Just loved your barn photos, how I wish I had one. Happy Spring, Julie.
I never see pussy willows here in our area. I really like them and do have some fake ones in my family room in a tall vase. Would love some real ones.
So pretty, you should consider selling prints on etsy.
I'm just sayin'.
How do you go about putting Rural Revival on your pics?
Beautiful shot I love pussy willows. I can relate a bit to the book you are reading. I feel very spoiled farming now.
It is pouring rain here and it feels colder than it did in March where is spring warmth? B
LOVE the photo ~ my all time spring time favorite. I had to have some this year ~ so I have some in a sap bucket sitting on the table in a chaos of a room that is presently being completed. Makes me smile while we work. Thanks for sharing
