If you can't beat'em...

Without a doubt, my favourite part of fall is celebrating Thanksgiving.
Cool crisp air, snuggling by the fire with a warm piece of pumpkin pie
as yellow and red leaves pirouette together on their final journey.

Funny thing about that vision; since we've moved to the old farmhouse,
the temperatures on Thanksgiving weekend have continued to climb.
This year breaking a fifty year record.

So while there may have been pumpkin pie and leaves continued to dance,
there was no fire in the woodstove and snuggling under layers of blankets was out of the question.

This year I decided if it was going to be warm, well heck, we might as well embrace it
and enjoy it for what it is. And, for the first time. in anyone's memory, we dined al fresco.
'
Because, really, if you can't beat'em, then you might as well join'em.

~Be well friends~

Happy Belated Thanksgiving Andrea! Goodness I don't think I ever experienced a super warm Thanksgiving day in Manitoba or British Columbia. Living in Kansas since 2000 I have experienced many nice warm Thanksgiving days in November which I really enjoy. I guess we'll see what this year brings! I hope you're still enjoying the good weather.

Looks good to me!! Any day you can eat outside is fine with me. Reading about the Canadian Thanksgiving this past week makes me wonder...does every country have a Thanksgiving Day? hmmmm..I want to check that out..

Great idea and a lovely photo! It's not unusual for us to have a warm thanksgiving and although it's usually at least a little cold for Christmas I do remember one Christmas where it was so hot we wore shorts!

How fun! What a great way to celebrate your Thanksgiving and harvest on a beautiful day/evening...

I do understand what you mean, my son played hockey for 10 years and we always seemed to have a "ice breaker" tournament in the Vancouver area on your Thanksgiving weekend... the weather was always sunny and warm and I wondered how in the world anyone would want to have their oven on to bake pies or a turkey!

Maybe you should celebrate the American Thanksgiving... you could definitely have a cozy fire... I'll remind you when the time comes ;)

Great idea enjoying Thanksgiving dinner in the backyard. We take ours to the beach - it's usually nice and cool where I live in November.
