This or That Thursday: eDition 31

From the top:

Welcome Fall! She arrived with the frostiest of breaths and we celebrated by lighting our first fire of the season Saturday night, after failing to keep sufficiently warm at our local fall fair.

Wildflowers continue to evolve around the property as pesticides and herbicides have been banned in the province for over three years which makes my heart sing. Happy bees, happy Bee Charmer.

Corn harvest has been in high gear the last few days. As the corn comes down, it opens up our view, albeit after months of being fenced in, the farm feels a bit exposed these first few days but it reminds us of our winter 'view' and gently nudges us to get that wood stacked!

The greatest chance of an item succeeding in the garden is to have it fail dismally the year before. Did you write that down? I had to buy pie pumpkins last year (shudder) as I had a very small crop and pumpkin pie is the only pie a certain twin will eat. You could say I overcompensated this year but can anyone have too much pumpkin in their life? I think not. There will be plenty of pies, soups, muffins and more this year.

Meet Pearl. Our very own black pearl! Ember is quite happy to have a playmate so close in age. The farmhouse is happy to have two kitties traipsing around it again. There is a certain balance to having two underfoot and we're all delighted to be experiencing kittenhood again.

~Be well friends~

Autumn appears at Rural Revival . . . Enjoy your pumpkin abundance . . . just don't turn completely orange!

Like your words . . . "The greatest chance of an item succeeding in the garden is to have it fail dismally the year before.". (i do as I am told and wrote (copied) it down. I am smiling.)

Pearl is looking regal.!

Lucky you and your pumpkins... I ended up with exactly 4 this year! It was not a good pumpkin growing year for me! I know what you mean about the corn... we don't have any here around us but just up the road are cornfields on both sides and it's like driving through a tunnel at this time of year... And I'm still holding off on turning on any heat... we have an oil furnace and we managed to make our 300 gallon tank last all winter last year, this year the fill up was almost twice the price! The little stove in the living room will be used even more and of course the winter layers of clothing will soon be upon us :/ The life of living in an old house!

Everything does look fall-ish at your place and it is fun to have a couple of kitties around. I like their names. :)

How lovely to have a new kitty in the family. Our vegetable garden has been dismantled, however I am still working on putting the flowers gardens to bed. Last year I had a bumper crop of pumpkins this year not a one! It looks like Autumn in your neck of the woods. Have a lovely day, Julie.
