Hanging On

The maple leaves may grace us with a burst of glory in their final days, but they also give up far too easily for my liking. One gentle rain and they cascade down to the ground as if they've been planning all summer on their favourite landing spot. These pond side wildflowers, on the other hand, are hanging on for dear life, perhaps because they spent all summer waiting for an open view of the world, now that they're out here, they'd like it to last as long as possible. Can't say as I blame them.
