Viburnum Days

We have a large viburnum, or snowball bush in our yard, that, at the moment, is in full bloom. Just when I thought those tiny flowers would stay green forever, one morning I looked out and poof...balls of white everywhere, as if by magic, a fine replacement for the last of the lilacs, leaving me with something else to behold my gaze. That mother nature sure knows a thing or two about timing.

Every spring the Artist asks if he can cut said viburnum down. Seems he dislikes having to mow around it. The bush is still there, evidenced by the photo above, so you can guess what my answer was, is and always will be.

The same non-lover of flowering bushes was out cutting the grass this very evening. I spotted him out there with no ear protection which I quickly rectified. It was almost entirely for selfish reasons, I do admit. Seventies rock was not kind to his hearing and as I caught a glimpse of those bare ears out there I had visions of my future self speaking to the Artist using my outside voice....all the time.

The first house I ever bought had a rather small viburnum bush. I didn't really care for it. It's amazing what an extra 20 feet can do to a plant. Or country living to a girl.

There's a 99.999999% chance I'll be hosting a giveaway in the very near future. Don't say I didn't tell you.

Hey -- were you sneaking around my viburnum bushes this week while I wasn't looking? Lol. Mine are just a tad past their peak, but still lovely.

Thanks so much for sharing this week! xo

Beautiful flowers! I have to protect my trees and shrubs from my lawn mower too. Sadly, I'm afraid last summer's drought and mowing this spring might have killed off my rose.

Love the ball of white - they are similar to hydrangea.

I remember snowball bushes from when I was growing up and later on in my own yard. Don't have one now, though. Yours is so pretty.

No! No! No! Keep him away from that stunning bush!!
The thing about a snowball tree is that they evoke so many memories of knowing a grandmother or aunty who had one in their gardens....
I really must plant one x
