I'm tired, so tired.

Maybe it's because I hit forty recently, maybe it's the sunburn on my back from staying longer in the garden than I had planned yesterday; and it could be from tripping and falling over three light sabers I had placed on the stairs after taking them away from my son; who had decided to wave them around the living room like he was a battling Darth Vader for control of The Empire that was just within his grasp; or it could just be the fact that we're holding a wedding in our backyard in five, count'em five days, 'cause I am tired. A tired reminiscent of just having had a baby tired. Ugh. That tired.

We had a birthday dinner for our daughter who turned ten today. We had pasta, because this girl could live on pasta alone, shrimp and bruschetta. Dessert was a Messy Cake. What's a Messy Cake you ask? Four flavours of ice cream, in this case Cotton Candy, Mint Chocolate Chip, Strawberry and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, all birthday girl favorites, a layer of fudge in the middle, two toppings, which tonight were smarties and sprinkles, with chocolate sauce drizzled on top. It's good. It's really good. Of course if it was my birthday, I would have peanut butter and chocolate ice cream times four but that's another story. Did I mention it's really good? Well it is, or it was...the glimmer twins saved a bit for tomorrow, to recreate that sugar high they were on tonight, yes tomorrow, while I am at work, far, far away.

Once we finished dessert, the table was cleared, and my step-mom and I did some brain storming with the goodies I bought on Friday. With my husband's help, we picked an old typewriter font, played around with paper zinnias, ribbon and jewel stick-ons and will hopefully have some lovely lanterns to decorate the tables with beautiful name plates to direct our guests to their seats. It was all I could muster just to think about how they should go. My step-mom packed it all up in her kit bag, and took it all home to work on. I offered to let her pack some other troubles in her old kit bag, but she wouldn't bite. I guess it's up to me to decide on the fate of The Empire.

Did you make the "Messy Cake" yourself and if so we need to know how to do it. This looks like a VERY good skill to have I a thinkin'

Happy Birthday to your daughter! And I'm sending you some energy for your wonderful week. Not that I can spare any as I am closer to 50 than 40, but for you and your special day, I would sacrifice :) -Tammy

I am seriously exhausted just thinking about having a wedding at a house I don't own. Sheesh.

Love the messy cake, I have to try that!

And happy belated birthday! And 40 is not old.

I can say 40 isn't old too as I join the 40-brigade in December. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate so I'm not surprised you feel tired. It'll pass, eventually!!

Best wishes, CJ xx

Of course you are tired! You work full time, have a hubby, kids, home, garden, pets....
And you are planning a Wedding!!!
Pretty full plate, I'd say!
Let the small things slide. I have to tell myself this all the time. And try an Iron supplement. "Slow FE" is a good one. I swear by it!
And remember-This Too Shall Pass, my motto in life!
Hugs to you! Misha
